My wife was on cloud nine last night, the first day of 2007. Do you remember how exciting just awhile ago it was for the entire BYU alumni in the triumph over Utah? Well, as a BSU alumnus, my wife morphed into a wild, screaming bronco last night.
Who would have ever thought Boise State would beat Oklahoma, 43-42, in overtime at the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona?
Unbelievable!
Perhaps part of the success can be attributed to all those spuds; I am sure BSU QB Jared Zabransky ate plenty while growing up as the son of a potato farmer.
I don’t know who dreamed up the idea of putting a falcon on our new Idaho state quarter. They should have put the Broncos on there!
Way to go, BSU! Idaho is celebrating today.
I have seen a lot of football games, but last night’s has to have been one of the greatest games I have ever seen. I almost cried, and I don’t even have a dog in that fight.
As an avid (Denver) Broncos fan, it was good to see that at least one Broncos team out there could win a major game. Then there’s the whole neighboring state aspect that left me pulling for BSU (and a nervous wreck in the last few minutes of regulation and the 2 point attempt in OT).
Now if we could just convince the NCAA to scrap the BCS….
I don’t know that I have ever seen a better football game. What can you say? Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. Now if they’d just stop beginning sporting events at 8 pm eastern. It’s so brutal.
Guys, my mother-in-law said something like this, if all football games were like this, she would start watching football regularly.
My folks still live in the Boise area. I was on and off the phone with my dad throughout the game. Since I was a kid and my dad started taking me to high school football games, he would always say late in a game: “they should run a hook and ladder.” So of course I had to call my dad right after Boise State’s hook and ladder and what does he say: “I called that play.” I had to remind him, “Dad, you always call for the ‘hook and ladder.'” Of course he claimed he never does!
There is a budding movie industry in Driggs, Idaho. They ought to tackle the project of making a movie out of this.
As a die hard Sooner fan I have to say that was one of the best games I’ve ever seen. I didn’t even feel bad about losing. Kudos to BSU.
