Isaiah 8 (II Nephi 18)

Do you see any connection between Isaiah 8:12-13 with I Peter 3:14-15?

Isaiah 8:14 with Matthew 21:44, Luke 2:34, Romans 9:33, I Corinthian 1:23, and I Peter 2:8?

Isaiah 8:18 with Hebrews 2:13?

Out of all the LDS commentary and LDS scripture footnotes that I have on Isaiah, there is only one who has printed a connection in agreement with question #3.  David R. Minert notes this on page 32 of his book, Simplified Isaiah For The Latter-Day Saints (2006).  I am curious as to why this might be?  The connection between Isaiah 8 and Hebrews 2 is Christological.

And one more thing (a small translation issue) . . .

Isaiah 8:9 (KJV) – “Associate yourselves”

BYU professor Don Parry translates the Hebrew, “Band together”.

BYU professor John Bytheway in Isaiah For Airheads, comments, “At first, you might think the Lord is saying we should not associate with others.  But in context, he’s saying what he has said before:  if you ‘associate yourselves’ or, in other words, if you form worldly alliances, then you’ll be broken in pieces” (116).

But are LDS friends absolute about this proposed English translation of the Hebrew text?  Modern translations tend to disagree.
