Beautiful Turkey – We are here!

My wife and İ express our kind appreciation to Turkish Air for rescheduling our flights after experiencing major problems (no fun at all) in NYC.

Wow.  They have been terrific.

We flew into exotic Instanbul-the city that joins two continents.  One church – now existing as the Aya Sofya (Sancta Sophia) museum – stands out as a gigantic testament to Justinian who desired to surpass the glory of King Solomon.

But in the inner narthex – I can think of the beautiful mosaic of a Person who rises above all.  Christ as Pantocrator (Ruler of All).

From Instanbul we flew to Kayseri.  This use to be the stomping grounds of a guy by the name of St. Basil the Great.  I need to look up what this guy taught about the Triune God.  Highly interested.

Tonight – we are safely and happily tucked in a beautiful motel connected with Dedeman Hotel & Resorts in Cappodocia.

I have a friend – Eirik F. – who would love this place.  Miles of underground caving at Kaymakli – Özlüce – and Derinkuyu.  It is incredible how these people lived.

All this volcanic landscape reminds me of Southeastern Idaho – Craters of the Moon!!  I need to bring a busload of Turkish Muslim friends to Idaho.  What do you think?

  1. Thanks for the update. Our prayers have been answered.
The Dedeman looks like a great place to rest after a hard day of exploring.
Keep us posted and we’ll all keep you covered in prayer.

  2. I did not take advantage of the full Turkish bath experience. 🙂

I believe some of the cuisiane (sp?) late last night was arabic in origin. Tables of salads. Tables of meats. Tables of desserts.
