Vern Swanson’s LDS orthodoxy, Part 4

Here are some more quotes from Swanson’s book, Dynasty of the Holy Grail (2006) for your consideration.  The final part 5 will be tomorrow.

I had no idea that Luther believed Jesus had sexual affairs.  I would like to get to the bottom of this accusation.  Are there any other sources?  I will be sharing John 4:27 this Sunday morning with the church family.

And I, also, have been reading systematically through Ludlow’s Isaiah.

Eternal Family

The truth of the eternal family was Joseph’s greatest revelation.  Today the Church has asked each member to quietly hold their sacred truth firmly in their hearts.  However pseudo-intellectual Mormon dissidents have used this concept to tear at our unity, while true Saints have found peace in what has been revealed and patiently await further light and knowledge (267).

Aaronic and Melchizedek Male Priesthood

When the highest order of the Melchizedek Priesthood is activated in the last days, it will be held by women and men together.  Again Mormon dissidents gnaw at the roots of the Tree of Life by insisting upon women being ordained into the Aaronic and Melchizedek orders of the priesthood right now (267).

Luther believed Jesus had sexual affairs?

Lisa McLaughlin and David Van Biema incorrectly reported in Time magazine, “Martin Luther believed that Jesus and Magdalene were married, as did Mormon patriarch Brigham Young.” McLaughlin and Biema, “Mary Magdalene:  Saint or Sinner?” Time, 11 August 2003, 55.  Actually, Luther believed that Jesus was having sexual affairs with a number of women.  See Phipps, Was Jesus Married? 12. He quotes Pastor John Schlaginhaufen, who records a comment by a friend of Martin Luther, “Christ was an adulterer for the first time with the woman at the well for it is said, “Nobody knows what he’s doing with her” (John 4:27). (268, chapter endnote 2).

The crucial importance of Joseph Smith in your ultimate salvation

As the direct descendant of Jesus Christ, Joseph is the Grail King for this dispensation and all those of his millennium must file past him before they may progress to higher orders (277).

Joseph said, in effect, “I stand at the gate, I admit you or keep you out” (277).

The controversial bloodline of Swanson’s Jesus

It was not only in the blood He [Jesus] shed but also in the bloodline He perpetuated through his royal seed that had power to “save” (307).

Victor L. Ludlow [in Isaiah, 172] is the only contemporary official LDS scholar to mention how the lineage came to the Prophet (375).
