I just came back from vacation in Oregon. Tonight, about a half hour before our inductive study, I read Isaiah 29 (KJV), the new chapter of concentrated study for our church family in Ammon, Idaho. As I quickly perused the chapter, some of the phrases in the text looked very familiar to me, though I have never had anyone before teach me this chapter, line upon line, precept upon precept.
As one of the men in our church family worked through the first half of this chapter, I wondered if I had ever seen parts of this before in the Book of Mormon.
After our study, and dying of curiosity, I took a peak at an LDS KJV. Sure enough, I saw the links.
But now, as we work our way through scriptural contexts, how clear is the connection between foundational tenets for the introduction of the Book of Mormon and the “Woe” by Isaiah in chapter 29?
I am just a newbie to this study, so before I go exploring and highlighting various LDS interpretations on what Isaiah was saying in the chapter, I throw out the invitation to you for offering any explanations most personally helpful.
Initially, I do say this. I think that what Isaiah is saying here, should be a fundamental message to be read and heeded by American society.
Tonight, my heart is stirred!
