I don’t hate the Mormons I’ve left; I simply don’t really care one way or the other. Well, I mean, I care about my family and whatnot, but as far as what that church does now or in the future or in the past… really don’t care.
And having been raised in Mormon culture, it’s just like being raised in any other culture. It’s a part of you. You can’t shake it, so don’t bother trying. Just laugh about it and move on. Although, I will say the one aggravating thing about it, is when I find myself in a conversation with or about Mormons, because I know so much about “them” it’s instantly assumed that I am “one of them,” which is no longer the case. That then leads to the “well why did you leave?” type questions and my “I just didn’t care” answer doesn’t seem plausible to them.
Now, let me clarify my “not caring” stance. I care a great deal about Christianity, about Worship, about understanding “the Plan” (where we came from, why we’re here, where we’re going, how we get there, etc). It’s because of a desire to learn and practice those things that I ultimately have distanced myself from Mormonism – that church simply couldn’t answer the questions that matter the most to me. I’m a big fan of worship, and ultimately I felt a tremendous lack of it in the LDS church – or more specifically that the worship taking place was greatly misplaced. I desired a place that worshiped God, relied on the Bible, etc. etc… and the LDS church simply didn’t cut the mustard, for me. Anyways. I don’t know where I’m going with this, and didn’t mean for it to be an “all about me” section, but there’s my two coppers.
Out of curiosity Tate, if you “don’t care” about what happens to the LDS Church, what is your motivation for commenting here?
Seth, not sure I get what you mean.
My commenting here, on this post specificaly, has nothing to do with the LDS church, it has to do with my personal journey in religion.
I found Todd’s blog through researching area churches and because I know people who know him. I comment here, in general, mostly for entertainment purposes. And, despite the blog’s title, I don’t think 100% of the posts or Todd’s curiosity, is directed at the LDS. I find individual perceptions of “This is what I am” , “This is what you are” to be quite fascinating – and a lot of that goes on in this blog.
And by the way, Tate, keep commenting on HI4LDS, for your story is equally fascinating.
Of course, the wondrous Lord creates us all with a colorful, unique twist.
Yep.

He is worthy of full worship of heart.
Good enough for me.
