I am almost a week behind the times in Bloggernacle.
Joseph put me in the LDS bloggernacle spotlight for 2007 awards.
niblet nominee:
Worst comment – “Todd Wood’s entire oeuvre”
Honestly, I can empathize with this. I know some people truly believe: to allow a fundamentalist Baptist pastor in S.E. Idaho post comments on LDS blogs is akin to spreading a deadly potato virus throughout the whole network of storage cellars.
For others, it is like a stray eyelash irritation that won’t go away.
Undoubtedly, I am the discordant, unorthodox note that just doesn’t sing well with all the LDS choirs.
But guys, I just get too excited to sit back and remain ho-hum and not sing any song. You are stuck with me, unless you ban me, which I don’t think any LDS blog has. As a Southeastern Idahoan, I am just content to not be banned.
I end this short note with an invitation. Since it has been over a year of me invading your internet turf community, feel free to share any miscellaneous thoughts or perceptions or frustrations about who I am or what I am doing.
On this thread, I will just listen and not say a word. Promise. Unless you cuss at me. 🙂
Honestly, I don’t really get why you got nominated for that. It didn’t seem deserved, and it wasn’t particularly funny.
Pastor Todd, it has come to my attention that not only do you care to share your disagreement with the LDS faith here on this site, but also with your entire congregation. Sad. Are you that insecure in YOUR faith that you feel it necessary to try to misguide others? People are of free mind and free will and that is good, but many put their faith in you and you chose to lie talk nonsense about the LDS people. The pople in the community of Idaho Falls are strong, LDS or not, but look around and see the STRENGTH of those who are LDS and what good members of society they are. You may choose to not believe in our faith, we choose not to believe in yours, fine, let it go, don’t try to persuade others by the “power” of your leadership role. And if your church (that you set up and built here in IF yourself) is truly based on “the true word” then you will know the first and everlasting commandment …..
LOVE THY NEIGHBOR (not slam their faith and beliefs to make yourself look better)
I will be praying for you and your “fold” …..
Barbara
Idaho Falls
I don’t understand any aversion to your comments. In fact, I generally click on your name when it shows up in “recent comments” on other blogs, simply because I think you are one of the more interesting voices. I think you can be somewhat vague-yet-preachy at times in your comments, which leaves me scratching my head and missing your point, but I’m not annoyed and definitely not offended.
I only get annoyed when you make your ambiguities coherent.
Yes, I know, ambiguities aren’t supposed to be coherent.
I’m being sarcastic.
I’m saying: you are too often ambiguous; and that is annoying.
Coherent?
” Are you that insecure in YOUR faith that you feel it necessary to try to misguide others? People are of free mind and free will and that is good, but many put their faith in you and you chose to lie talk nonsense about the LDS people. ”
Wow, I have never heard you lie, or talk nonsese about the LDS people. Only sharing concern in love based on the truth of Gods word, go figure. I don’t find anything insecure about that, just a concern for the truth, which is unchanging.
Barbara,
Was Jeffrey R. Holland’s last conference talk rejecting the Nicene Creed an “insecure” attack on another religion?
Are you so insecure in your faith that you have to label any disagreement as “attacks” and “lies?”
Todd, Trash Calls is a satire website. Thus, by stating that, TC was actually making fun of orthodox Mormons to whom it attributes this attitude (funny because there might be some truth to it but it is obviously a grotesque exaggeration).
I guess the joke fell flat if it prompted this post here.
