Aside from the possibility of of mere allegory, did it not occur to you that God may be simply expressing a result of His divine unity with His wife?
I have to say that the strange, amorphous and genderless nature of the mainline Christian God is one of the least attractive aspect of their theology.
Seth, if any husband in a public setting in front of his wife, said, “I have made . . . I will bear . . . I will carry . . . I will deliver . . . ” he would probably get a thorough thrashing from his wife when he got home. And my wife says, AMEN. The contrast between verses 1-2 and verses 3-4 in Isaiah 46 is beautiful.
