Tonight, our church family is in Jeremiah 18.
And the Sovereign Yahweh gives us a message via Jeremiah:
At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it; If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them. And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it; If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.
God help us in America from giving the response of Jeremiah 18:12.
Jeremiah 18 is interesting.
God’s contention is that nature is more stable than Israel. Look at the text for yourself.
Which do you think will be more stable in the days and years ahead?
The LDS “Israel” in America?
Or the snow on the Tetons?
_____
Should a Prophet even preach that today? Or is everybody absolutely confident in the American LDS Church?
It’s a good point Todd.
God’s people can never afford to be complacent, rest on their laurels, or simply assume that God will always prosper them.
I think this applies to the LDS Church as much as anyone. Just because we have prophecies of God choosing this people and all that, does not mean that God could not change his mind if we rebel against him or refuse to remember him.
Good to remember Jeremiah’s words I think.
