Bible Reading in Idaho Falls (11)

Behold God.  Behold God.  Behold God.

I followed a car yesterday that had this bumper sticker on the back – “100% Devil”.  Poor driver in the red Chevrolet.  The devil is a puny, creaturely puppet compared to what I read about this morning.

After the description of the awesome heavenly creatures and throne chariot , we see beyond and upward the staggering glory (Ezekiel 1:26-28) . . .

Above the firmament over their heads was the likeness of a throne, in appearance like a sapphire stone; on the likeness of the throne was a likeness with the appearance of a man high above it.  Also from the appearance of His waist and upward I saw, as it were, the color of amber with the appearance of fire all around within it; and from the appearance of His waist and downward I saw, as it were, the appearance of fire with brightness all around.  Like the appearance of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the brightness all around it.  This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD.  So when I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of One speaking.

Jumping into the New Testament book of Hebrews where the author has already established Jesus as more glorious than the angels, we read today (Hebrews 3:1)

Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus.

And then back in the Psalms (Psalm 104)

O LORD my God, You are very great:  You are clothed with honor and majesty, who cover Yourself with light as with a garment, who stretch out the heavens like a curtain.  He lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters, who makes the clouds His chariot, who walks on the wings of the wind, who makes His angels spirits, His ministers a flame of fire . . .
