“Then the Lord awoke as from sleep, like a mighty man who shouts because of wine. And He beat back His enemies; He puts them to a perpetual reproach” (Ps. 78:65-66).
Here is the covenant-keeping Hero for a drunken, unfaithful, promise-breaking people. We complain that God is inactive. We long for God not to be so distant. We are up to our necks in problems and suffering due to our own sins. Let us be thankful to the Holy One who suddenly steps into the field of war and starts breaking the heads of the mockers and oppressors. The Lord will enter the arena like an enraged MMA fighter. He will crash through the woods like a Yellowstone Grizzly. Woe to the enemies of the Lord. He will be their worst nightmare.
