I spend a lot of time in cemeteries in America and abroad. Here is the burial place for Gordon B. Hinckley’s body.
I am experiencing many emotions at the moment. They are not joyful emotions. President Gordon B. Hinckley rejected the fundamental truth of my Christianity and my historical Christ treasured by millions.
So my emotions are mixed with anguish. But on this day, I be still as a struggling sinner redeemed by grace alone. I pray. And I seek to share God’s love and care through me to others.
May God minister to you, dear readers, the wonderful riches of his grace on this emotional, notable day in the corridor.
I believe that the majority of Christianity has rejected the fundamental truths of Jesus Christ. They can’t agree on a single point of doctrine. The “historical” Christ, I believe, is far different than the Christ that actually lived in the meridian of time.
I know that President Hinckley was a called prophet of God, that He was Christ’s servant and voice on earth, and that He spoke with Him face to face, just as Moses of old, as one man speaketh with his friend (Ex. 33:11).
Bryce, I am on a search for the fundamental doctrines that all LDS agree upon. 🙂
I am waiting for LDS authorities in 2008 who will lay out the fundamental, authoritative, binding truths about Jesus Christ that will cut through a lot of LDS ideas and opinions.
Thinking of your first sentence, I would agree with that about Christianity in America. That is why a lot of the various Christianities should no longer be called Christian.
The most fundamental, authoritative, and binding truths about Jesus Christ I think were summarized well by the brethren in “The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles” which was published in 2000. You can read it here.

I had missed this. I will study this and probably get back with a series of questions for the apostles in a post.
Thanks.
Todd, I am not sure a technocratic approach is necessarily the solution to complex human issues and problems. More precision doesn’t mean more accuracy.
Just take the questions to the Lord after reviewing his two texts, the Bible and the Book of Mormon, and use the internet to mail your friends. It is not a matter of questioning the apostles but posing the question to yourself and God
