Berean’s VBS – The Fall of All (Day 2)

The Second C – CORRUPTION

Devotional thoughts for teachers – God is our Righteous Judge:

Deuteronomy 32:4 – “He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.”  Psalm 89:14 – “Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.”

We pray in worship:

Thou Maker and Sustainer of all things, day and night are thine, heaven and earth declare thy glory; but I, a creature of thy power and bounty, have sinned against thee by resisting the dictates of conscience, the demands of thy law, the calls of thy gospel; yet I live under the dispensation of a given hope.  Deliver me from worldly dispositions, for I am born from above and bound for glory.  May I view and long after holiness as the beauty and dignity of the soul. (Arthur Bennett, The Valley of Vision, The Banner of Truth Trust (2005), p. 139)

Today’s text and theme verse for the children:

Genesis 3 and Romans 5:12

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.

Frequent questions asked by adults:

If there is an all-powerful, loving God, why is there so much death and suffering in the world?  www.answersingenesis.org/go/death-suffering

And Romans 5:12 is sweeping. Death came through the sin door. Genesis 3 is not a movement of upward progression.

    _____

But I am thankful for the protoevangelium in Genesis 3 and the last Adam in Romans 5.

All we are and have is due to the nature of the one relationship with Jesus Christ. Some would ask, “How can one individual affect and do so much?
