Do all of you know the order of events of what Jesus did during this week of Holy Days? And do the Modern Authorities think that the biblical gospels carry contradictions about the last week of Jesus’ life?
And who is the LDS apostle in charge of America’s LDS bloggernacle?
(smiling)
I think LDS apostles have better things to do with their time than seek for flaws in the biblical record.
I would imagine Neil Andersen was chosen for a variety of factors. But his international experience (he has lived 10 of the last 20 years overseas) were probably a plus.
The Area Authority for most of Idaho is Claudio Costa of the Seventy. A small portion of Idaho is included in the Utah North Area, presided over by Ronald A. Rasband of the Seventy.
Answer to your question: “And do the Modern Authorities think that the biblical gospels carry contradictions about the last week of Jesus’ life?”
I don’t know if the “Modern Authorities” think that the Gospels carry contradictions about the last week of Jesus’ life, but a simple reading of the New Testament show that the King James Version translations ended up with a DIFFERENT description of the inscription above Christ’s cross. Hence, Mormons believe the Bible to be the word of God, insofar as it is translated correctly.
What did the inscription above Christ’s cross say?
Matthew 27:37 (King James Version)
37And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Mark 15:26 (King James Version)
26And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Luke 23:38 (King James Version)
38And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
John 19:19 (King James Version)
19And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Todd —
Assuming you took the opportunity to listen to the talks from all 5 sessions — what did you think?
I heard a lot regarding the importance of covenants — to serve and help others, to receive divine protection and power, and to provide guidance in a world full of distractions.
I came away with a greater desire and commitment to serve, attend the Temple, and stand strong against the forces of Satan that are rampant all around us.
Hi Rob.
No, I didn’t hear any of the talks. When do all the transcripts come out?
When it comes to service, did any of the LDS First Presidency or Apostles share Jesus’ big talk with his own disciples in Matthew 20 before the Triumphal Entry event in Matthew 21?
Jesus Christ does lovingly rebuke me on this amazing day.
And Seth, thanks for the info.
Todd,
The audio has already been released. The text will be released over the next few days at the same link provided above.
Jeffrey R. Holland gave the traditional Easter-themed address. A moving account of the Savior’s final moments and the depth of the sacrifice he made for us.
I can’t remember if there was much about the words spoken at the Last Supper.
And who is the LDS apostle in charge of America’s LDS bloggernacle?
I can’t believe you didn’t know this already, Todd!
It’s Seth!
Unbenownst to most in the LDS Church, in addition to the “Three Nephites” those mysterious Nephite apostles of Jesus who would not taste of death, there were also three other individuals called the “Three Zoramites.”
Not quite so faithful, not half so righteous, and only able to perform miracles occasionally, if they feel like it, these three tireless servants travel the land picking fights with the enemies of the faithful, disciplining small children, and writing angry letters to the editor.
I am the third one – my name is Teancli-ori-humminah-humminah. I got tired of walking around, so the other two assigned me to the internet. My other two brothers are around. One of them is the bagpipe guy at Temple Square who plays his bagpipes really, really loud to drown out anti-Mormon protesters.
I think the other one is somewhere in Spain offering free hugs at crowded shopping malls. He always was a little odd.
I think we saw one of the Three Nephites about 15 years ago at a town hall meeting somewhere in Quebec. He told us to go away because we were cramping his style.

I knew it….I knew it….. I just KNEW it…….
and what an AWESOME strategy, you can’t fight a bagpipe, dude, don’t even try

Comments like this are what we’re paying you for, Seth.
Well okay, maybe we’re not paying you, but when I read stuff like this I wish that we were.
Jack: absolutely, we need to dig up some stimulus $$$ for Hummy-2x……… this is $$ well spent…….
Teancli-ori-humminah-humminah,
Thank you for gracing us with your presence.
Too bad your brother can’t play bagpipes on the blogs…
