July 4th Highlights in Idaho Falls

There were two events yesterday that could easily bring tears to a grown man’s face:

  1. Listening to “Amazing Grace” played by the Idaho Falls Firefighters Pipes and Drums in the morning parade.
  2. Listening to “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing” just before the grand finale of the Melaleuca Freedom Celebration.  I was looking at the flag fluttering on top of Shilo Inn.  I was also watching the bombs bursting.  And I was listening to my wife singing with the loudspeakers,

O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be!
Let Thy goodness, like a fetter,
Bind my wandering heart to Thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy courts above.
