I can remember when these words washed over me as a senior at Skyline High School back in 1987 (almost 25 years ago).
“The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.” (Jer. 31:3)
And the N.T. reading today:
“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (I Timothy 2:1-2)
I pray for President Barack Obama, today.
Let us pray for the President, and also for all members of Congress, all state governors, all state legislators, all judges, all local executives and council members, all members of the military and “all who lead or serve their country in this and every land, that justice, peace, freedom, and solidarity may prevail throughout the whole world”.
