LDS letter-to-the-editor in World magazine
Dan Rotondo in Fort Wayne, Indiana writes for the World magazine mailbag (June 14/21, 2008):
I canceled my subscription. I used to really appreciate WORLD, but the way you handled Mitt Romney and his religion (which is my religion) killed the friendship and my interest. (more…)
New category: Baptist LDS
Ama over at Grace for Grace brought this man to my attention. He lives in Independence, Missouri.
What do you say about this?
I noticed one thing about Lynn Ridenhour’s new (2008 ) book, In the Trenches: Conversations with Mormons & Evangelicals. One of his chapter titles seems to indicate that he believes the fundamentalist’s gospel is “another gospel.”
So I suppose this Baptist preacher rejects the fundamentals about Jesus and His work that set me free. Or perhaps he believes that some fundamental doctrines in how God reveals himself are acceptable for rejection.
What can you refuse to believe in the written Word while adamantly claiming that you are saved by the living Word?
Berean’s Sixth Article of Faith – The Creation
Here is the sixth article of faith in our church constitution. Contrast this with what Steven just wrote at BCC, Towards a Mormon Darwinism. (more…)
Bloggernacle has begun a sizzling summer
1. Jared gave a summary of the 30th anniversary priesthood commemoration.
2. Considering David’s post, how beneficial is it for evangelicals to dialogue with BYU religion professors to obtain authoritative answers? (smiling)
3. TT questions the LDS Newsroom with his post, Experience or Doctrine.
4. Allen’s skirmish with young Aaron – it centers around the weekend commemoration at the Tabernacle.
5. Steven promotes a Mormon Darwinism, which introduces our local church’s 6th article of faith as a stark, contrasted belief. Let me post it next.
6. And Aquinas is hungering for ecumenical healing, noting his joy over the Greg & Bob Conversation.
God moves in a mysterious way

Building Truss(t) – our storm in S.E. Idaho
Before we started our church building project, I told God to allow whatever circumstances, in order to build our trust in Him, the One who is all love and all powerful. I am sure He is more interested in building us than the building of sticks.
Today, at 2:30 p.m., the strong eastern Idaho wind knocked down every one of our 51 trusses (60′ span). Fourteen tons, worth around $14,000.00, are destroyed.
Tonight, I cried. I cried with Bernard, the one-armed brother, who lifted up to me with a 2×4 many of my spacers. I cried in talking with all of our team this evening. And around 10:00 p.m., I cried and hugged Leah, one of the sisters in our church family, who used a guide rope to direct many of our trusses.
Some trust in chariots. Some trust in horses. Some trust in the mighty. Some trust in the powerful.
We are weak. We are foolish. We are simple-minded. Our only hope to get us through all this is the magnificent Lord of glory.
I bow my knee tonight and bless the Lord.
Splinters and all.
Thanks for letting me share.
Does God know what to do with the broken? I am trusting Him to see what He will do in the days ahead.
I am a helpless beggar in Ammon, Idaho.
Berean’s Fifth Article of Faith – The Devil
And in continuing this particular series . . .
We believe that Satan was once holy and enjoyed heavenly honors; but through pride and ambition to be as the Almighty, fell and drew after him a host of angels; that he is now the malignant prince of the power of the air, and the unholy god of this world. We hold him to be man’s great tempter, the enemy of God and His Christ, the accuser of the saints, the author of all false religions, the chief power of the present apostasy, the lord of the anti-Christ, and the author of all the power of darkness – destined however to final defeat at the hand of God’s Son, and to the judgment of an eternal justice in hell, a place prepared for him and his angels. (Isaiah 14:12-15; Ezekiel 28:14-17; Matthew 4:1-3; Matthew 13:25,37, 39; Matthew 25:41; Mark 13:21, 22; Luke 22:3,4; John 14:30; II Corinthians 11:13-15; Ephesians 2:2; I Thessalonians 3:5; II Thessalonians 2:8-11; I Peter 5:8; II Peter 2:4; I John 2:22; I John 3:8; I John 4:3; II John 7; Jude 6; Revelation 12:7-10; Revelation 13:13,14; Revelation 19:11, 16, 20; Revelation 20:1-3, 10)
20 Reasons Why I Don’t Take Potshots at Fundamentalists
John Piper posted this yesterday.
If he came to Southeastern Idaho, I would go hear him preach.
What do my LDS friends think of these 20 points?

I love this ancient prophet. It is those ancient Isaianic promises of light for the blind that come to full life in John 9 – the dawning of a new age.
The former blind man of John 9 is right on:
Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.
