Last night, I watched the final episode of the docu-drama of the making of the King James Bible.

Quick Observations:

1.  “Lord, open the King of England’s eyes”  – Last words of Tyndale before he was strangled and burned.  I consider William Tyndale and his theology as a part of my Christian heritage.  Do you believe in the theology that he taught?  What he shared from the Bible about God and the gospel?  Would you die for the gospel that he died for?

2.  I listened to Randall Balmer.  He said that he doesn’t like the cult of the new.    He likes to go back to the old.  But which “old” does he consider orthodox, especially with his recent article – “Fundamentalists, Mormons, and the ‘Christian Question’“.  As an Episcopalian, he wants to go back to the old.  As a fundamentalist, I want to go back to the old.  But we are on two completely separate paths.

3.  Brad Nassif – Eastern Orthodox Church, Sugar Grove, Illinois.  Good grief – fifteen years of theological education!  Three masters.  One Ph.D.  Interesting to see him on the show.

4.  Richard Land – notable quote in this episode . . . something like this:  “He who says he has outgrown the Bible?  He has a highly inflamed ego.”

5.  Lancelot Andrewes – The guy knew 15 modern languages and 6 ancient languages.  How many of our modern Bible translators have been under the rigors of such scholarship?

6.  Richard Mouw shared some sad contrast between the family culture of today and how he grew up.  Watch the episode and tell me what you think.

6.  After the blend of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Youtube sensation of the Hallelujah Chorus at the mall in Welland, Ontario, the documentary series closed with scenes again of Tyndale.

“Always the Word” – The desire of the Bereans in Idaho: let the written word run and be glorified so that all might gaze upon the living Word and be healed.

Who is Jesus?  In all the portrayals that we hear of Jesus in America, consider the total, sufficient work and character of this Messiah as introduced in the book of Hebrews.  I am in awe this morning by all the truth propositions concerning this God-man.  With the angels, I bow and worship.

“God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right of the Majesty on high, having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.” (Hebrews 1:1-4)

Anchor your heart with this:

Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.  They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.  “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!”  The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.  It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.  It is good for a man to bear the yoke in his youth” (Lam. 3:22-27).

The Lewiston Tribune scorches Idahoans with this editorial, “Idaho launched Fischer’s hate crusade”.

It is deja vu of last week’s article by Idaho Falls journalist, Corey Taule.

Like Robert Jeffress, Bryan is a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary.  And both are “hate mongers” according to the media in the United States of America.

Romney calls Fischer’s speech, poisonous.  Idaho journalists around the state are calling on Republican politicians to cut themselves off from Bryan Fischer and that we should “protect the good name of the Gem State.”

But let me ask you.

What do you think Jesus would say in Idaho about three movements:  Mormonism, Islam, and homosexuality.  And how would He relate to all three groups?
